On 16 October 2024, Oscar Wilde – one of the most famous authors in the English language, a poet, a playwright, a wit and socialite – is celebrating his 170th birthday!
For the occasion, the English department has organised a small poster exhibition that brings together snippets of Wilde’s life and works, dispersed in the corridors of the Institute of Foreign Languages and Cultures (Lossi 3). To encourage everyone to explore, it is possible to win a prize by discovering the five keywords on the posters and submitting the solution sentence with your e-mail via the QR-code link during the week! The prize is sponsored by Rahva Raamat.
On Wednesday, 16 October, at 18:00 in Lossi 3-328, a Wilde movie night will take place! Join us for a screening of The Happy Prince (2018), a biographical drama film about Oscar Wilde’s final years, directed and written by Rupert Everett. Even if you cannot come, we invite everyone to feel a bit decadent on the special day and wear something purple!
Looking forward to your participation!
